Kola joined us in the fall of 2019 from the rolling hills of South Dakota with a chocolate palomino filly at side and bred back for a 2020 foal. She is a VERY unique colored mare. She is halter broke but didn‘t have one on in a very long time and is not broke to ride. She’s got excellent confirmation and a nice quiet eye. I had some bonding work and trust gaining to do with her so I was able to get a halter on her again. We brought all the mares and foals in to brand and decided to see how she would do with a halter. To our surprise she stood like a champ once I got the halter over her nose. She was bred again so didn’t want to stress her out too much. But she did amazing!
We named her Kola so we can have some Pendleton and Coke babies lol!
We continued to work on her throughout the winter in the corral everyday and in the summer pastures, we can go up and pet her if we walk slow, she trusts us now just still would rather not be touched. Kola wants to be your friend and follows you around hoping you have some treats in your pocket!
